Ranch & Rescue
About Us
Harvest Moon Horse Ranch and Rescue, established in 2025 and located in Acampo, California, is a 501(c)(3) family-run compassionate haven for equines of all kinds, horses, ponies, and more. Founded by Christina Colburn, a two-time Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran with the U.S. Air Force and now a full-time STEM teacher in Lodi Unified School District, the ranch emphasizes rescue, rehabilitation, and care for equines of all sizes. Beyond mere shelter, the ranch offers a riding arena and community programs for youth, instilling responsibility, empathy, and a deep connection with horses.
Rescue AND Education
Under Christina’s leadership, the ranch operates as both a rescue and an educational center. It provides a safe and nurturing environment where animals receive veterinary care, proper nutrition, and gentle training tailored to their individual needs. Christina’s dual dedication to her students and to the equines she saves reflects the ranch’s mission: healing lives, both hoofed and human.
Starting Off Strong
In just its inaugural year, Harvest Moon Horse Ranch and Rescue opened its gates to six equines in need, demonstrating strong community commitment and powerful veteran-led stewardship.
Our Mission
At Harvest Moon Horse Ranch and Rescue, our mission is to provide a haven for rescued horses, ponies, and equine companions in need, offering them compassionate care, rehabilitation, and the opportunity to live their best lives. Founded by a United States Air Force veteran and dedicated educator, we are committed to healing both animals and people through connection, education, and purpose. We strive to inspire our community, particularly young people, to cultivate empathy, responsibility, and respect because every single horse deserves to live their best life!
