Adoption

At Harvest Moon Horse Ranch and Rescue, adoption is about honoring the deep connections horses form with one another. Many of our horses arrive having relied on a trusted companion for comfort, confidence, and security, and we are committed to keeping those bonded horses together whenever possible. Adopting a bonded pair not only preserves their emotional well-being, but also creates a smoother transition into their new home. By choosing adoption through Harvest Moon, you’re giving horses a second chance—one rooted in stability, compassion, and lifelong partnership.

Foster + Adoption Programs

How we help horses find care for the rest of their lives.

Horse Rescue & Rehabilitation

We rescue at-risk and neglected horses, providing medical care, proper nutrition, training, and the time they need to recover—physically and emotionally. Our rehabilitation process helps each horse regain health, confidence, and trust in humans, preparing them for a loving foster or adoptive home.

Forever Foster

Some horses thrive best in long-term foster homes. Our Forever Foster program places horses in permanent, supported homes where they are cherished and cared for for life. Foster families receive guidance and resources to ensure each horse’s well-being and happiness.

Adoption & Foster Program

We thoughtfully match rehabilitated horses with adopters or foster families committed to lifelong care. HMHR provides training, education, and ongoing support to create safe, lasting, and rewarding placements for both horse and caregiver.

Foster-to-Adopt Program

Our Foster-to-Adopt program allows prospective adopters to experience life with a rescue horse before making a permanent commitment. Participants receive guidance and support to ensure the adoption is safe, informed, and successful for both horse and caregiver.

Volunteer

🧡Harvest Moon Horse Rescue relies on the dedication of volunteers to give abused, neglected, and at-risk horses a second chance. We are seeking compassionate, dependable individuals to help with daily barn chores, feeding, grooming, stall cleaning, fence maintenance, farrier work, and general farm support. Horse experience is helpful but not required—we’re happy to train willing hands and hearts. Whether you can give a few hours a week or help with special projects and events, your time makes a direct, life-changing impact.

Join our volunteer family and be part of the healing, hope, and hard work that keeps our horses safe and thriving.🐴
